Future of Virtual - OpenExchange is a global provider of video solutions tailored specifically for the financial services industry. They specialise in enabling secure, scalable, and professional virtual communication — helping investment banks, asset managers, and corporate clients deliver high-value meetings and content in both live and on-demand formats. Whether it’s investor days, earnings calls, or one-to-one virtual meetings, OpenExchange provides the infrastructure and tools needed to make every virtual interaction seamless and impactful.
I was brought on to design and animate “Future of Virtual”, a hero explainer video featured on their site and in marketing materials. The video explores how virtual engagement has evolved in a post-pandemic world, highlighting the new expectations for production quality, user experience, and security — and how OpenExchange is positioned to lead in this changing landscape. I designed the visual style from the ground up, developing a sleek and professional aesthetic that reflected the brand’s trusted, enterprise-grade positioning while keeping the motion dynamic and forward-thinking.
The animation follows a clear narrative arc — moving from the challenges of early virtual environments to the advanced solutions OpenExchange now offers. Through stylised illustrations, animated UI components, and layered transitions, I was able to visually communicate abstract concepts like global connectivity, high-fidelity broadcasting, and audience analytics. Every scene was designed and animated with purpose, building momentum and clarity while reinforcing the message that OpenExchange is the go-to platform for professional virtual engagement in finance.
Beyond the video, I also created a full suite of web-based animations that appear throughout the OpenExchange website. These interactive elements were designed in After Effects and exported using the Lottie format, allowing them to be embedded directly into the site with lightweight performance and crisp vector clarity. From iconography to section transitions, each animation adds a layer of interactivity and polish that elevates the overall user experience without overwhelming the content.
These Lottie animations play a subtle but important role — helping guide users through key messaging while reinforcing OpenExchange’s identity as a forward-looking, tech-savvy brand. The animations were designed to be loopable, responsive, and performance-optimised across breakpoints, ensuring a consistent experience across desktop and mobile. I worked closely with the dev team to ensure each animation integrated seamlessly into the site’s build, delivering both visual value and technical precision.
This project was a great opportunity to blend strategic storytelling with refined motion design. From the “Future of Virtual” explainer to the subtle microinteractions across the site, every piece of animation was crafted to enhance OpenExchange’s credibility and communicate their role as leaders in virtual transformation for the financial world. It was a rewarding process that combined creativity, clarity, and craft at every step.
In addition to the core explainer and web animations, I also created a set of social-first videos to support OpenExchange’s promotional efforts — including a campaign around their Investor Days offering. The video was designed to quickly showcase the benefits of hosting investor events through the OpenExchange platform, with a focus on clarity, security, and global reach. I kept the motion crisp and purposeful, using animated UI elements, smooth transitions, and bold typography to capture attention in social feeds. The final asset was delivered in multiple aspect ratios for cross-platform use, helping the brand drive awareness and engagement across LinkedIn and other professional networks.
I also designed and animated a social video specifically for Earnings Calls, one of OpenExchange’s core services. This video highlighted the platform’s ability to manage high-stakes, high-visibility financial communications with precision and professionalism. Using motion to emphasise key features — like real-time broadcast support, secure access, and branded presentation environments — the animation reinforced OpenExchange’s credibility while maintaining a sleek, polished visual tone. As with all social deliverables, I built the piece with silent autoplay in mind, ensuring the message landed effectively through motion and design alone.
